My Initial Impressions…

Let's start off with the design of this TV. It's not heavy, so it makes it very easy to set-up. You only need to deal with 8 screws, a small cable management panel on the back and plugging it in. Once you put the batteries in the remote you're ready to fire it up and that's when the magic starts. You immediately notice the bright and colorful picture and the WebOS interface. I already own an LG Oled so I'm pretty used to the WebOS on this set. Although, I love my OLED the WebOS on this new 2019 TV seems a little nicer if not, at least a little more intuitive. You can set up your Google Assistant while your setting up everything else also. By using the Google Assistant, via the dedicated button on the remote, I pretty much can dim my living room smart lights and lock the door with my smart door lock. I can also ask it to look for specific movies or shows on my available media and video services including Youtube. Or just ask about weather. Anything else that your Google Assistant can do now your LG can also. Now let's talk about that picture, it's really bright and colorful and the A7 Gen II chip does a great job of upscaling almost anything else that is not already 4K to what appears to be 4K or something really close to it. I sometimes can't tell the difference unless I really, really go out of my way to look for artifacts or other imperfections when it's upscaling. It's that good at doing its job. The sound I would say is better than your average LCD TV also. Not quite soundbar quality, however, If you sit within 10 feet of it you can really appreciate how much work they put into the sound quality. I also own another brand's LCD that I use in my bedroom and it doesn't even come close to the sound quality of the LG 55SM90. The screen has a very small bezel all the way around. It's minimal and makes it look very sleek and down to business. The stand is very solid and grippy also. I had it on a glass top for a while and could not move or shift it without actually getting someone else to help me lift it just to move it over a few inches. Colors are fabulous as are the choices you get for the different type of viewing scenarios you may encounter. It even has a game setting for maximizing the refresh frame-rate on your game system. Overall, I would definitely recommend this flat-panel to anyone looking for a TV this size. For the picture alone it's worth it and you get WebOS. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.
